Marc graduated in 2005 from the University of Geneva Law School, after having spent a year at the University of Zurich Law School. He also obtained in 2004 a Certificate in Transnational Law from the Duke-Geneva Institute in Transnational Law.
In 2006, Marc achieved a Master of Laws (LL.M. in General Law) from New York University School of Law.
From 2006 to 2010, Marc was junior associate and then associate with BMG Avocats. He then joined Schellenberg Wittmer where he practiced until 2013 in the IP/IT group. He has been admitted to the New York State Bar since 2008 and to the Geneva Bar since 2009.
Marc’s main areas of practice include Health and Life Sciences Law, Administrative Law as well as Intellectual Property, unfair competition and IT Law. He is experienced in both contentious and transactional work in those areas.
Since June 1, 2023, Marc Balavoine is Chairman of the Cantonal Medical Board (Commission de surveillance des professions de la santé et des droits des patients).
He is a member of the Geneva Bar Association.
